The Digital Street Corner
Is it possible to surf around in cyberspace and hang out on the street corner at same time? French artist Fred Forest will show us how at a world premiere event that will take place November 30-December 4 in the context of Art Basel Miami Beach 2005. Forest invites the Internet users of the world to meet him down in the street outside the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach for a cyber-happening. The setting will actually be a “corner” of virtual reality, specially created with the help of a new open source peer-to-peer software program.

Fred Forest, artista francese pioniere della communication art, ha organizzato, in occasione della fiera Art Basel Miami Beach 2005 un cyber-happening. L’intervento, intitolato Digital Street Corner è un invito ad incontrarsi in uno spazio virtuale. Giusto all’angolo della strada, in un incrocio del cyberspazio.
L’evento avrà luogo dal 30 novembre al 4 dicembre. Tutti gli utenti di Internet sono invitati a partecipare all’incontro, che si svolgerà in un ambiente virtuale appositamente creato con un nuovo software open source basato sulla tecnologia peer-to-peer. Tutto quello che accadrá nell’angolo di strada virtuale verrà trasmesso in diretta, oltre che sul web, anche sulla facciata del Bass Museum a Miami Beach. Fred Forest in persona guiderà l’happening, nel ruolo di dj/animatore.
